Prep Sports Round Up 23.05.25

With the sun shining, our pupils have been performing brilliantly in a wide range of sports.

Congratulations to our Year 4 and 6 mixed tennis teams who qualified for the County School Games finals at Liskeard School in June 2025.

Our Year 4 teams played singles matches against players from Mount Hawke and Archbishop Benson schools before winning this event and qualifying for the County tennis finals. They played mini red ball rules, using a short tennis-sized court and a mini red ball (75% slower than a yellow ball).

Year 4 squad: Albie, Hugo, Seren, Mabel, Christopher, Joseph, Harleen and Malhar

Later the same morning, our Year 6 mixed tennis team also headed to Truro LTC for a mini orange ball event. They faced strong opposition from Mount Hawke, Archbishop Benson, Penponds and Perranarworthal schools. They played their singles matches on a bigger orange ball court (3/4 size tennis court) using an orange ball, which is 50% slower than a yellow ball. They were delighted to win this event and qualify for the County finals.

Thank you to Penryn College sports leaders for umpiring and encouraging all the players at this event, Ryan Fern (Head Coach at Truro LTC) for organising the event and any parents who came to watch their children.

Finishing the week on a high, we were proud to welcome local schools for our first-ever Year 2 football match. We look forward to sharing more news on this over the half term break.
