Prep Sports Round Up 21.11.25

Our week of sport at Truro School Prep kicked off with a host of U11 teams in action against a strong side from Devoran School. Our Year 5 and 6 teams showed that they have taken away a great deal from previous fixtures and played with energy, discipline and resilience.

It was a solid performance across the entire team, with everyone trying their best to pass and move off the ball. There was some fantastic defending against a powerful attacking team from Devoran. Special mentions must go to Percy, who pulled off some fantastic saves and pounced on any opportunity to scoop the ball up away from his opponents. And to Kaleem, who led his team from the front with some well-worked, well-placed shots on target, leading to some great goals.

Well done to everyone for your energy and camaraderie. We look forward to seeing more progress in future matches.

The weather gods certainly gave us challenging cross-country conditions for our trip to Polwhele House on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. A mixture of sun, rain, wind and hail, as well as freezing temperatures on Wednesday, met the runners who were waiting with anticipation on the start line. Over the two days, 85 runners from Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 represented Truro School Prep and ran with speed, grit, determination and resilience to complete the gruelling course.

There were some standout performances. Evie C came first in the Year 6 girls’ race, overtaking Sienna S (second) in the final stretch. Samuel P finished third in the Year 6 boys’ race, Jack L romped home in first place in the Year 5 boys’ race, with Sandy M and Rafe G sharing second place in a photo finish on the line. Mabel L was a close second in the Year 5 girls’ race, as was Rocco A in the Year 4 boys’ race. Nola M came first in the Year 4 girls’ race, Ernie A came second in the Year 3 boys’ race, and Archie E finished in third in the same race. In the Year 3 girls’ race, Lila S finished strongly in second, followed closely by Hattie J in third.

Whilst it is important to celebrate the success of the runners above, it shouldn’t overshadow the efforts of those who completed the course, with some running in a cross-country race for the first time. Everyone had smiles on their faces and finished with a feeling of accomplishment and pride.

Thank you to all the staff who came along to help, namely Mrs Luxton, Mrs Egford, Miss Ryder & Mr Frewer. The same appreciation goes to the many parents who came out to support all the runners and to our hosts.
