Outstanding Outcomes for Business and Economics

As we look forward to hosting our annual Sixth Form Open Evening, we are also celebrating some outstanding A-Level results for students who took A-Levels this year.

In both Business and Economics, there was much to be proud of. In Economics, 100% of our A-Level students achieved grades from A* to B (vs 66% nationally). Of these, 17% achieved the highest possible grade of A* (vs just 9% nationally).

In Business, a whopping 30% of our cohort achieved an A* (vs just 4% nationally).

Alongside these fantastic grades, our ALPS scores for both subjects also put us in the top-performing A-Level providers in the UK.

ALPS scores serve as a national benchmark that focuses on value-added, or the difference between the actual A-Level grades a student achieves and the expected grades based on their prior attainment (typically GCSE scores). ALPS scores allow us to understand the significant difference that the education provided at Truro School Sixth Form makes to every student.

Graded 1-9, an Alps score of 1 means a student or institution is in the top 5% of performance against national benchmarks, representing the best possible outcomes and exceeding expectations. An Alps score of 2 indicates performance is within the top 10% of benchmarks.

We are proud to report that we have maintained an ALPS of 2 in Economics for the past three years, consistently placing our students in the top 10% nationally. In Business, we achieved an ALPS of 1. This remarkable score puts us in the top 5% nationally and is a real testament to our teaching and the systems our A-Level teams put in place to help students succeed.
