Lucy Joines us for Fun Ceramics Workshop

Year 3 has relished the opportunity to create their own ‘Hope Boats’ with ceramic artist Lucy Joines.

Pupils were tasked with creating their boats from scratch, hand moulding clay into shape in this follow-along session. After creating the vessel, the children were invited to use their imagination to fill the boat with creatures of their choice. For some, it was their favourite animal, a pet, a monster or even themselves! From gorillas to bunnies, the year group created some outstanding examples, and smiles filled the room as the children engrossed themselves in this uplifting and fun session.

Lucy asked the group to open their imaginations and think about what story they wanted to tell with their boat in terms of where it was going or where it had been. Every pupil was also able to choose a name for their boat and engrave this onto the side.
