Know Yourself, Grow Yourself in Wellbeing

This week has been Children’s Mental Health Week, and the theme for our chapel assemblies is ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.’ Thank you to our Sixth Form team for talking to us about mental health and emotional awareness using excerpts from the Disney Pixar film, Inside Out 2.

The week also saw a ‘splash of colour’ where pupils and teachers were invited to wear something bright and cheerful to remind us of the importance of mental health and a symbol of positivity. Staff have also been involved, sharing images of places and hobbies that signify their own wellbeing. In some PSHEE lessons, pupils took time to be active, with some help from Joe Wicks,  and discussed strategies for overcoming barriers using movement, nutrition and sleep.

Mr Johnson reminded everyone in the Whole School Assembly that wellbeing is not something that should just be talked about this week. The significance is that if we can learn to talk about it and have it as part of our regular conversations, then we can also talk about it when we really need to. He also said that wellbeing is a product of doing something challenging and worthwhile. He celebrated the efforts of all pupils involved in the Charity Concert this week, an entirely pupil-led event and a wonderful showcase of talent, creativity and courage from within our community.

This is also a timely reminder about The Wellbeing Hub, a new online resource available to parents and pupils that is designed to equip all our staff and parents with the knowledge, understanding, and strategies to support our pupils, students, and themselves. All login details can be found via the Everest parent portal under ‘links’.
