Terrific Taster Days

We were delighted to welcome our new cohort of Year 7 pupils and their families to Truro School for this year’s taster days, ahead of their start in September.

Groups of excited pupils gathered in the Burrell Theatre to begin their day, met by our Sixth Form ACHE leaders, who played a key role in the day and helped our newest recruits to feel welcome and settled from the minute they arrived.

Meanwhile, parents enjoyed tea and coffee and the opportunity to meet one another. They also heard talks from Head of Truro School, Andy Johnson, Head of Lower School, Mrs Thurlow, and two of our Senior School pupils, Will and Rosie, who spoke warmly about their experiences of life so far in Year 7.

Pupils spent a busy and engaging morning in their new form groups, taking part in a variety of lessons and activities spanning art, drama and PE.

One of the highlights was undoubtedly the delicious Truro School lunch in the Dining Room, which provided a fantastic ‘taste’ of life at Truro School.

Alongside reconnecting with old friends and forming new friendships, these taster days are a key part of the transition process. They help to ensure that moving from a primary setting into Senior School is as smooth and seamless as possible, allowing pupils to build confidence, become familiar with their surroundings and get to know staff and routines ahead of September.

The next event in the Year 7 transition calendar is the Introduction to Sports event, taking place later this month.

A huge well done to all of our new pupils, who demonstrated great confidence, courage and kindness as they begin their journey as part of the Truro School community.

For families still exploring options for September 2026 in Year 7 and other year groups, we are offering a limited number of opportunities to join upcoming taster days and experience school life first-hand. Please contact our Admissions Team at [email protected], who will be delighted to discuss availability and guide you through the next steps.
