We have been bowled over by some stunning performances from our Truro School Prep pupils on the cricket pitch in the last few weeks.
On Monday, 9th June, two teams of Year 3 players competed in the County Kwik Cricket event in Roche. Not only did the children show a fantastic attitude throughout the day, but they also played outstandingly well, finishing in 1st and 2nd place.
On Wednesday, 11th June, our Year 6 cricketers played in the Cornwall County Hardball Final against a strong and experienced Connor Downs side. Fielding first, our players contained the opposition well, taking some great wickets in the process. When batting, we showed our lack of match play experience and unfortunately could not reach the target on 293 to win the match, with a deserving Connor Downs going on to represent Cornwall in the Annual County Schools Final at King’s College Taunton.
This week, our Year 6 cricketers took to the pitch again for an exciting County Kwik Cricket event. With some great tactical play and excellent teamwork, they strengthened their play as the matches progressed. With no boundaries in play, the teams had to run hard to score any points, and they embraced this challenge valiantly to ensure an overall win for one of our Truro School Prep teams.
With our incredible Truro School Prep cricket wicket taking shape and the Year 6 girls in action on the 1st of July, we look forward to sharing more cricketing news with you soon.
