A succession of sporting success

From Cross Country Relay Championships, National Tetrathlon and Triathlon Championships, to National Open Surf Lifesaving Championships and football selections, our pupils have been having a very successful few weeks.

Rosa D and Georgia O took part in the National Open Surf Lifesaving Championships in Crawley. Despite having not competed in the pool since Covid, they both did really well – competing against GB Champions and entering lots of very challenging events. Well done!

Congratulations to the Truro School pupils who took part in the National Cross Country Relay Championships in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This involved teams of three, each running a 2k cross country course (Under 13 & Under 15) and the Under 17s ran 2.5k.

Under 13 Girls – Naomi H (1st Year) 26th out of 70 Teams.
Under 13 Boys – Daniel G (Prep School, Year 6) 33rd out of 80 Teams.
Under 15 Girls – Daisy H (3rd Year) 49th out of 94 Teams.
Under 15 Boys – Harry E & Oliver G (3rd Years) 51st out of 85 Teams.
Under 17 Girls – Anna E (5th Year) 18th out of 68 Teams.

They all ran amazingly well and all supported one another, there was a great atmosphere and so many elite clubs competing there. All the children have got next year competing in the same age categories and Daniel Garland from Truro Prep has got another two years in the Under 13 category!

It didn’t stop there for Naomi, who travelled straight to Bath to compete in the National Tetrathlon and Triathlon Championships run by Pentathlon GB, at the University of Bath, where she placed 6th overall in the Modern Tetrathlon and 10th overall in the Triathlon. Whilst there Naomi met Modern Pentathlete Olympian Jamie Cooke and one of the British Fencing Coaches.

This result followed an earlier 1st for Naomi in her first Modern Pentathlon. Naomi took part with her friend Daisy, who placed 2nd in the Under 15 age group. Congratulations girls!

In Gymnastics, Milly recently travelled to Bristol to compete in the South West Acro Championships. Milly and her partner Roxy came 3rd in the Grade 3 Women’s pair category. Well done!!!

In Football, we have also received news that Oscar P has been selected for the West Cornwall Under 14 squad, and Fin C and Howie E have been selected for the Under 15 squad.
