A Phenomenal Prep Sports Day

After recent heavy rain stopped play, Truro School Prep’s annual Sports Day got underway again under sunny skies and with spirits high. With track and field events to complete the programme, Sports Day was a joyful celebration of everything our school stands for: courage, confidence, and compassion.

At Truro School Prep, sport is about far more than winning; it’s about fostering a lifelong love of movement, celebrating personal growth, and thriving, both as individuals and as a team.

There was plenty of excitement on the track, as records tumbled in Year 4. Mabel set new records in the 60m sprint and 60m hurdles, while her brother Jack smashed records in the 60m sprint, 60m hurdles and 400m.

In Year 5, Evie set a new record in the 75m sprint, and Sienna made easy work of the 600m, beating the previous record by quite a margin.

Meanwhile, in the field events, Audrey set an impressive new record for the Year 5 vortex throw, and Rosie did the same for the Year 6 vortex throw.

As the temperatures rose, there were tight heats and finals in Year 6, which resulted in new records for Henry in the 75m sprint and Poppy in the 60m hurdles (with Reggie and Lissie also running faster than previous records).

But as always, Sports Day was more than just these extraordinary and well-deserved wins. Memorable moments were tiny, yet unmissable, from someone encouraging their friend, offering them support when things got tough, and those moments of real joy and being able to celebrate with friends and family, when something unexpected happened.

Every child scored points for representing their house in the track events (60m/75m, 60m hurdles, 400m / 600m) and field events (vortex throw, long jump and high jump).

Well done to Vinter, who topped the table this year:

1st = Vinter (425 points)

2nd = School (355 points)

3rd = Smith (324 points)

4th = Wickett (296 points).

And well done to our Victor and Victrix Ludorum for each year:

Year 3: Nola and Jasper

Year 4: Mabel and Jack

Year 5: Evie and Rohan

Year 6: Poppy and Henry

A huge thanks to Mrs Luxton and the huge number of staff from the Prep and Senior schools who make the event such a success. Thanks to all of our amazing Truro School Prep families who braved the very best of the British weather and came to support their children. And finally, a heartfelt well done to every child who worked so hard and showed such incredible courage and compassion. We are incredibly proud of you all.
