Our Pre-Prep team were delighted to welcome parents and carers of our Early Years children to a special Phonics Afternoon, designed to give families a clear insight into how we nurture early reading and writing skills at Truro School Pre-Prep.
Led by Mrs Banks, our Reception teacher and Read, Write Inc. lead, the session offered a hands-on look at how phonics is introduced in Nursery and built upon as children progress through Early Years. Parents explored the importance of developing a love of stories, practising ‘pure sounds’ and ‘sound talk’, and using simple, practical strategies to build confidence at home.
The afternoon provided an opportunity not only to understand the structured approach we use in school, but also to experience some of the engaging, interactive activities that help make early reading both successful and enjoyable for our youngest learners.
We are incredibly proud of our Early Years provision, which provides an exceptional start for girls and boys from age 3, fostering curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
If you would like to find out more about our outstanding Nursery and Reception classes, we warmly invite you to join us at our Open Morning on Saturday 7th March from 10.00am to 12.00pm.
