On Thursday and Friday of last week, 75 4th Year Geologists visited Praa Sands and Godrevy.
During the course of the day, they applied all they had learned in their GCSE course so far to understand metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary processes in the field.
In the photographs, they are studying a dyke and sampling phenocrysts to understand how they were formed. They observed a peat layer and a raised beach at both locations, which provided evidence for both sea-level rise and fall.
A big thank you to all of the staff who made this trip possible and to all of our hard-working geologists!
