Be A Girl Chorister For a Day

This event is the perfect opportunity for girls to experience life as a chorister, from morning rehearsal through to lessons at Truro School, and finally, a short service of Evensong when they will have the chance to sing with Truro Cathedral Choir.  The event is open to girls in Years 7 and 8, especially those considering entry to the choir as they enter Year 9.

Pupils will join us for a normal chorister’s day, arriving at Truro School at 07.50 to start a rehearsal at 08.00. They will then have normal lessons and lunch, before being accompanied down to Truro Cathedral for a rehearsal with James Anderson-Besant, the cathedral’s director of music. The current choir girl choristers will later join them for rehearsals, and for an Evensong service at 17.30 with the Truro Cathedral Choir. Parents can attend Evensong and collect children afterwards at 18.15 from the cathedral crypt (downstairs).

The chorister programme, run jointly by Truro Cathedral and Truro School, provides a pathway for musically gifted girls and boys to achieve world-class excellence, whilst being personally and pastorally supported to develop friendships within a close-knit team. The choristers are all educated at Truro School where they receive scholarships, with additional means-tested assistance as necessary.

For information about the Chorister Programme, including scholarships and means-tested bursaries, registration and chorister application forms, please contact Truro School Admissions on 01872 246062 or email [email protected].
