Truro School Prep launched its annual Reverse Advent Calendar today with a special assembly led by the House Captains. The Reverse Advent Calendar is a simple concept that switches around the usual opening of calendar doors to receive a treat. Instead, children and their families are asked to contribute something different each day in the run-up to Christmas to raise donations for the Truro Food Bank.
Items change each day and reflect the current needs of our local community. As more and more families are reaching out to food banks (the number in Truro has doubled in the last 6 months alone), it is a wonderful way to raise awareness of this important charity and for the children to be able to give back to others at Christmas.
Thanks to all of the children and families who have donated so far and to the staff who make this lovely idea happen. The full calendar can be seen on the stairs in Treliske House and donations left in boxes at the top of the staircase, or in the reception area of the Pre-Prep.
