Phil Rowe CO97 returned to Truro School recently to collect his eldest son, Paul, who has just completed an exciting Summer Term as an international student before heading home to continue his education in the United States.
Paul’s time at Truro School continues a proud family tradition. He follows in the footsteps of his father, but also his aunt Margaret Almey (née Rowe) CO97, and his grandfather Richard Rowe CO64, all of which attended Truro School.
Phil has enjoyed an outstanding career in golf and is currently Head Coach of the men’s golf programme at Cal Poly in California. After leaving Truro School, he represented the England Boys Team at the age of 16 before going on to compete for the Great Britain & Ireland Boys Team in 1996 and 1997. He earned 30 caps for the England Men’s Team and was a four-time member of the Palmer Cup team. One of the highlights of his early career came in 2000, when he sank the winning putt on the 18th hole to secure victory for Great Britain & Ireland in the Palmer Cup. That same year, Phil competed in The Open Championship at the Old Course, St Andrews. His golfing accomplishments have not stopped there though and to read more about his biography, click here.
He later graduated from Stanford University with a degree in psychology in 2002 and now lives in California with his family.
Reflecting on Paul’s experience at Truro School, Phil said:
“On behalf of Paul’s parents and guardians, please know that we are grateful for all the warmth of welcome and attention he received. He was challenged and encouraged academically, athletically, culturally and in many other ways that will have a lasting impact on his life.”
