Pre-Prep celebrated light with a Light Party full of stories, songs and crafts.
Led by School Chaplain Rev Helen, the celebration began with the Truro School Puppets, a group of 11 pupils from Years 5 and 6 who performed a play they had written themselves. Called ‘Searching for the Light’, it ended with the message that we have all the light we need within ourselves when we are kind and thoughtful, and the puppets finished by singing ‘Headlights’.
Next came a Godly Play story about the good light from God that helps us all to shine bright. A magic lightbulb, which nobody could work out how to light, joined the story, and each time a child shared how they could ‘let their light shine ’, the bulb lit up. Many pupils took a turn, and the bulb glowed with every kind idea, to great amazement.
The pupils then got creative, making headlight crafts and torches decorated with the words ‘Let your light shine’. The party ended with the whole group singing ‘My Lighthouse’ and ‘This Little Light of Mine’.
We hope there are lots of glorious little lights shining at home over half term as pupils remember they have the light within them to always shine; all they need to do is believe it!
