Old Truronians Return for The Ode Experience

The new Music Centre, The Ode at Truro School, officially opened recently with an awe-inspiring event: The Ode Experience.

The Ode Experience was a celebration of connection between schools and communities, past and present, performers and audiences.

Throughout the evening, guests experienced music in a variety of forms and settings. These ranged from intimate ensemble performances and archival displays celebrating Truro School’s rich musical heritage, to innovative collaborations blending tradition with contemporary creativity. You can view the archival display shown on the night just below.

We were thrilled to welcome back two Old Truronians who have made a huge impact in their musical careers since leaving Truro School: acclaimed singer and opera performer Lynette Carveth CO84, and award-winning composer, artist and sound designer Tom Middleton CO89.

The Experience led guests into the Assembly Hall for a grand finale, where the worlds of opera and electronic music blended into one. Tom and Lynette launched the pinnacle of the night: a remix of the school song ‘High on the Hill’ blended with Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

Lynette said that the event “left a lasting memory. To see all those young people joined together in one voice was inspiring and the composition and music were incredible. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for the music of Truro School and for Cornwall in general.”

We would like to send an enormous thank you to Lynette and Tom for taking the time to return to Truro School and be part of this special occasion.

We look forward to sharing more footage and audio from The Ode Experience with the Old Truronian community soon.
