Truro School Golf Society Enjoys Biggest Turnout Yet

The Truro School Golf Society enjoyed its most successful gathering to date, welcoming 38 golfers to Carlyon Bay Golf Club for the Society’s fifth annual year on the fairways.

Expertly organised by Glynn Hooper, the event brought together a fantastic mix of current pupils, staff, Old Truronians and friends of the School. The record attendance reflects the growing popularity of the Society and the relaxed sense of community it continues to promote.

Played in a Texas Scramble format, the competition allowed golfers of all abilities to enjoy the day, with plenty of teamwork, friendly rivalry and good humour. With sunshine throughout and Carlyon Bay looking at its best, players enjoyed excellent conditions and spectacular coastal views.

A particular highlight was seeing a team of talented current Truro School pupils emerge as the day’s winners, a result warmly celebrated by everyone involved and a wonderful reflection of the sporting talent within the School. Not every shot enjoyed the same level of success, however. Mr Sanderson’s wayward tee shot on the 18th drew a few smiles from golfers watching from the clubhouse terrace.

Golf aside, the day provided a wonderful opportunity for different generations of the Truro School community to reconnect, strengthen friendships and make new connections.

Reflecting on the event, Sam Willsher CO03, Development and Alumni Relations Manager, said:

“The atmosphere throughout the day was exceptional. Seeing old friends reconnect on the first tee and hearing former pupils share stories about memorable sporting moments and the staff who supported them was a real highlight. Having current pupils taking part alongside Old Truronians added something really special, demonstrating how the friendships formed at Truro School can last a lifetime.”

Our thanks go to Glynn Hooper for organising another outstanding event and to everyone who took part in making the day such a success.

Looking Ahead

Following this year’s record turnout, we’re hoping to welcome 50 golfers to next year’s Golf Society Day, which is typically held during the first two weeks of August.
