Sports Round-Up 21.05.26

From tennis tournaments and football fixtures to house rounders and individual sporting achievements, pupils have had a fantastic week.

The week also marked the beginning of A-Level examinations for our Year 13 PE pupils. Truro School PE Department would like to wish them all the very best of luck as they began their exams. The group have been a pleasure to teach and we wish them every success in their future endeavours. Good luck to Jess B, Dan F, Felix B, Ollie JP (pictured), Georgia O and Daisy H.

A fantastic atmosphere rounded off last week with a brilliant afternoon of Sixth Form House Rounders. With students representing their houses, lunchtime was filled with friendly competition. The PE team would like to thank everyone involved for making it such an enjoyable occasion and a wonderful way to welcome in the weekend.

It has also been a busy week on the tennis courts for Truro School pupils.

The U15 team began the week with their LTA Aberdare Cup fixture against Talbot Heath. Despite facing a more experienced U18 side, all pupils competed brilliantly and showed excellent determination throughout. A special well done goes to Tilly, Evelyn and Evie for stepping up to play, while Millie, competing as seed one, secured an excellent victory in her match.

The U13 teams were also in action at the County Tournament. With the weather holding out, pupils produced some excellent tennis performances and represented the school superbly across the day.

The boys’ team achieved an impressive third-place finish against strong Penair and Richard Lander opposition.

The girls’ team finished in fifth place overall following some determined performances throughout the tournament.

Away from school competition, Year 10 pupils Olly and Billy enjoyed an unforgettable experience representing ISFA at Carrington Training Grounds, where they faced Manchester United U15 Academy in their final fixture of the season.

The boys competed superbly in a hard-fought and high-intensity match, narrowly losing 2-1 after extra time. Off the pitch, the occasion was equally memorable, with Michael Carrick watching part of the game before coming over to shake hands with the squad at half-time. The players also had the opportunity to see several well-known footballers around the training ground, including Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and JJ Gabriel.

It was a fantastic opportunity for both pupils and a brilliant way to conclude a successful season with the national squad. Congratulations to Olly and Billy on an outstanding achievement, while also wishing Max M a speedy recovery after injury prevented him from taking part.

Well done to all pupils involved in sport this week for their hard work.
