The art classrooms were alive with creativity as the weekly Wednesday Afternoon Activities got underway.
In Ceramics, pupils and students from Years 7 to 10 and 12 have been developing a dragon-inspired ceramic project that gives them the chance to expand their knowledge and skills.
Meanwhile, in Print Making, pupils and students have been exploring a variety of different print methods, including monoprint and lino print. Making the most of the beautiful weather, the artists headed outside to forage things from around the school grounds to create their prints, including the stunning, fan-shaped ginkgo leaves (pictured), which were found on the school driveway. Others in the group continued work on their print booklets, exploring different textures and effects as their learning and creativity grow.
These art sessions are just two of the wide array of Wednesday Afternoon Activities (WAAs) that take place at Truro School, giving pupils opportunities to explore a wide range of interests beyond the classroom while helping younger students to make friends across year groups and older pupils to develop leadership and mentoring skills.
The school’s outstanding co-curricular provision in Cornwall offers a broad mix of subjects, including sport, music, art, digital creativity, and community service, enabling pupils to discover talents and build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
With both on-site activities, such as fitness training, gardening, and creative arts, and off-site experiences, such as sailing, surfing, and horse riding, pupils benefit from high-quality coaching and unique opportunities that make the most of Cornwall’s exceptional environment. We look forward to sharing more from these sessions as the term progresses.
