Truro School Alive with Activity Over Easter

Whilst our pupils and teaching staff enjoyed a well-deserved break over Easter, the sites at both Truro School and Truro School Prep were alive with activity!

Here are just some of the fantastic events that we hosted:

Birthday Party at Truro School Cookery:

Clara celebrated her birthday with an under-the-sea cupcake & biscuit decorating party at Truro School Cookery

From mermaid tails and sea creatures to colourful buttercream swirls, the children learned fun baking skills and created their own delicious masterpieces—finished with sprinkles and even edible gold!

They also decorated biscuits, enjoyed bubble tea, and went home with their creations

“Definitely one of her favourite parties!” – Clara’s Mum

We offer bespoke themed parties (Ocean, Dinosaurs, Magical Creatures & more), from £25pp (min. 6 children).

Chef Product Development Session at Truro School Cookery:

On Monday, we welcomed St Ewe Free Range Eggs along with local chefs Guy Owen – Idle Rocks, Chris Eden – Watergate Bay, Ugo Massabo – The Cornish Italian, Chris Jarrett – The Bearded Barman/KONA, Mark McEachran – St. Austell Brewery, Ben Harrison – Counter Culture, Adam Kesacoff – The Aussie Smoker, Ryan Holder – KONA to Truro School Cookery for an egg-citing day of product development.

We are always delighted to welcome local businesses into our school, such as St. Ewe Eggs – an award-winning, family-run B Corp-certified Cornish business.

Our kitchen is available to hire for all your commercial needs, for tasting sessions, filming, photography, product development and more! See our website for more information about using the space, and contact us if you would like to book a tour of our facilities.

Comic Con at the SBA:

During the Easter break, the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre played host to Truro Comic Con.

This action-packed annual event, organised by UK Comic Con and Gaming Festivals at Truro School, celebrated all things pop culture—from movies and television to anime, manga, video games, and fantasy novels.

The Cosplay Zone, a highlight of UKCGF events, once again impressed with the incredible creativity and effort shown by participants.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it such a fantastic community occasion. We look forward to welcoming you back again next year.

Bounce Park at the SBA:

Our sports hall was transformed into a colourful inflatable wonderland by Little Eden Entertainment, packed with giant bouncy castles, playful inflatable slides, and adventurous obstacle courses perfect for energetic explorers.

Little jumped, bounced, and raced their way through the fun in a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement at both our Easter and Unicorns v Superheroes themed bounce parks, this time offering exclusive SEN sessions for our community.

Holiday Clubs at the SBA and Truro School Prep:

Over the holiday, we offered our excellent programme of holiday clubs for ages 6 – 13, including: Bushcraft Days – Led by the team at Under The Canopy Cornwall, inviting children to embrace their wild side, building dens, making fires, roasting marshmallows, donning war paint, and braving mock monsoons and our Multi-Sports Camps – keeping everyone active with a range of games, including dodgeball, bubble football, trampolining, nerf wars, and pool sessions with inflatables.

Sewing Retreat in our Library and Boarding Houses:

Keen quilters from Hampshire have joined us for a wonderful creative week indulging in their hobby of sewing and seeing the sights of Cornwall.

Spratt and Winkle have joined us for the last two Easter breaks, to share their love of Cornwall and for the opportunity to work on individual sewing projects and taught group sessions – without the interruption of home life. The group have been accommodated in Trennick, whilst enjoying catering for breakfast and evening meals on site, around creating their wonderful makes in our light and spacious library.

In addition to using Truro School facilities, they have enjoyed trips out to local sewing shops, St Ives and Porthtowan, where they indulged in fish and chips for lunch. Shopping for fabrics in Cornwall’s many independent fabric shops, is the highlight for many attendees, with veteran Alison stating “I love this trip!”

The group are led by Chris and Lizzie, who said “The facilities at Truro School are exceptional, we would come more than once a year if we could! We have so much room for all of our equipment and enjoy walking into town to Truro Fabrics – although we don’t always enjoy the walk back up the hill again! We have been coming for a couple of years now, and really look forward to it – we have already booked up for next year. We are all working on projects such as quilting and making clothes and will be indulging in a lampshade making course as part of our stay. The accommodation and food have been excellent, along with Jo who has hosted us throughout all of our visits”.

The group have been working to their own schedule, with many staying up until 10pm to work on quilts. They were happy to show off their work – all which was to an exceptional skill level. The group supports each other with advice and tutorials, meeting twice a month at home for Saturday sewing sessions. The Cornwall retreat is the highlight of their yearly calendar –arriving with cars laden down with sewing machines, overlockers, irons and reems of beautiful fabrics! In addition to sewing, some members enjoy a swim on site in the mornings and walking around the school gardens after a busy day of creativity.

For those looking for facilities to host craft groups retreats of a similar fashion, we have various options available within the school grounds –  this includes a theatre and cookery school. The school campus is in easy walking distance of Truro city centre, with plenty of onsite parking, accommodation options, access to gym and leisure facilities and landscaped gardens.

Kizamba at Truro School Prep:

Kizamba joined us at Truro School Prep for their first official Cornish gig of 2026. The group were joined by Hayley from Salsa Bonita Cornwall, Chris from Threemilestone Dance. And Nick from Salsa Conmigo Truro for live music sets, Salsa, Bachata and Rueda workshops.

We hope that everyone who attended had a wonderful time!

All Starz at Truro School Prep:

All Starz joined us at the Prep to offer one of their affordable and high-quality training workshops. All Starz employs teachers and instructors from the world of TV, Film and Theatre, to fan the sparks of imagination in our participants. This easter, children enjoyed a Wonka Workshop, hosted by Jenny Legg, Assistant Choreographer on the Wonka Movie – and what an incredible experience it was!

The young performers have all been an absolute joy to be with and we hope they have had lots of fun and gained some new skills!

A massive thank you to Jenny for sharing her expertise and inspiring the next generation of performers.
