This week, Pre-Prep pupils began an exciting whole-school art project that will be displayed in the hall. Each year group has contributed in their own creative way, exploring colour, texture and materials on canvas as part of a collaborative piece of artwork.
In Nursery, the children painted, sponged and spread base colours onto the canvas using tester pots, enjoying experimenting with different techniques. They have also been exploring Dear Zoo in Drawing Club, taking part in related activities and beginning to create their own Dear Zoo books. They even got to meet Percy the Park Keeper in the Assembly Hall!
Reception children experimented with bold block colours for the art project, observing how colours mix as they painted. They also continued their robot topic by using machines to make and toast bread, before enjoying buttered toast as a snack.
Year 1 explored alternative painting techniques, using blue tissue instead of brushes and layering materials such as coloured tissue paper and sand. In literacy, they wrote Victorian-style recipes, focusing on time connectives and bossy verbs.
Year 2 created mixed-media seascapes for the art wall, experimenting with texture and materials to produce striking and contrasting results. In maths, they worked on recognising number patterns and using known facts to solve more complex problems.
Well done to all of our pupils for a wonderful week; we look forward to sharing their finished art project with you soon!
