Prep Sports Round Up 14.11.25

It has been another busy week for sport at Truro School Prep, with several exciting fixtures taking place, despite the inclement weather.

On Monday, Year 6 took part in an exciting netball festival held at the Senior School. They had the opportunity to play lots of friendly games against local primary schools. Throughout the day, the pupils demonstrated impressive skill in both attack and defence, showing how much progress they have made in their netball development.

Some of the girls were asked to play in positions that weren’t their usual preference, but they rose to the challenge brilliantly. They showed excellent adaptability, skill level, and transfer of their abilities across the court, proving just how versatile and determined they are.

What stood out most was their excellent sportsmanship and teamwork. They encouraged one another, respected their opponents, and worked together to achieve success on the court. Every match was played with enthusiasm and determination, and the children represented the school brilliantly.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Year 6 not only showcased their ability but also had a great time, making the festival a memorable event for everyone involved.

This week, our Year 5 and 6 hockey team took on the Year 7 B team at the Senior School. Despite facing older opponents, our Prep team rose to the challenge brilliantly and held their own throughout a highly competitive and enjoyable match.

Audrey put in a fantastic display in defence, showing real determination and composure under pressure. Coco was calm and creative in midfield, moving the ball thoughtfully and never panicking despite the pace of the game. Mabel and Hennie made some excellent attacking runs down the wings, making great use of space and keeping the opposition on their toes.

Harleen grew in confidence as the match went on, defending with increasing assurance, while Evelyn made a series of impressive saves in goal, keeping us firmly in the game. Emily scored a beautiful goal, skilfully weaving past defenders to find the back of the net. Evie and Niah worked tirelessly in midfield, demonstrating superb communication and teamwork, and Lowena added some lovely attacking plays to round off a strong all-around team performance.

A fantastic effort from everyone, with great teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill on display throughout!

To end the week, our Year 2 football stars were in action in a friendly against Trenance Learning Academy. With so many of our Year 2 pupils joining the after-school football club, it was a real treat to see how their skills have developed. There was some excellent competitive play, a great use of the entire pitch and some fancy footwork in play, making this an exciting afternoon of football for everyone. We look forward to seeing the team in action again in a few weeks against Archbishop Benson School.
