Celebrating Strongest A-Level Results in Over a Decade

Congratulations to our Class of 2026, who have achieved Truro School’s strongest A-Level results in over a decade.

With 80% of grades awarded at A*-B, 50% at A*/A, 23% at A*, and an overall pass rate of 100%, Truro School is once again the top-performing School in Cornwall for girls and boys.

These results were achieved across our full range of subjects and reflect individual progress over the Sixth Form that will place Truro School in the top 10% nationally for value added for the third year running. Most importantly, these results open exciting pathways to young people who, through our Sixth Form Diploma framework and our commitment to knowing, supporting and challenging every student, have gained the values and wider skills to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

Head of Truro School, Mr Andy Johnson, said: “These results are exceptional. They come from the inspiring dedication of students and staff alike. What makes me particularly proud are individual journeys, with the breadth and diversity of ambition and excellence they show, and that we value and celebrate today.”

Head of Year 13, Mrs Richards, said: “One of the key strengths of our Sixth Form is that we know each and every student. Our approach is personalised around where students want to go next and what they need to achieve to get there. We regularly monitor progress and involve parents so that everyone can support the student’s journey.”

Success is being celebrated across the humanities, creative arts, mathematics, languages, and sciences alike, and in additional qualifications including the EPQ, Leiths and PE Cambridge Technicals. Students are progressing to leading universities and quality courses chosen to meet their ambitions, from Medicine to Midwifery, Veterinary Science to Interior Design, Oxbridge English to Music, Sports Management to Law, Geology to Broadcast Journalism, and more besides.

Our Sixth Formers routinely achieve beyond nationally benchmarked expectations, including those who have been here previously and those joining in Year 12, boarders and day pupils alike, and those with SEND or EAL. Our Sixth Form Diploma programme puts a framework around A-Level study that develops leadership, service, intellectual curiosity, co-curricular engagement, and personal confidence. 83% of this year’s cohort achieved Gold or Silver Diploma awards alongside these A-Level outcomes.
