Fairways & Friendships – Golf Society Day at Carlyon Bay

Set against the stunning backdrop of Cornwall’s coastline, the spirit of camaraderie and competition was alive and well as 21 members of the Truro School community gathered for the much-anticipated Truro School Golf Society Day at Carlyon Bay Golf course.

Welcoming a vibrant mix of Old Truronians, staff, parents, pupils, and friends, the event was a celebration of connection, laughter, and a shared love of golf. From seasoned pros to enthusiastic hackers and brave beginners, everyone embraced the friendly Summer Scramble format.

Old Truronians
Kobe Kellet CO23, Harry Phillips CO22, Charlie Bladon CO22, Piran Hawken CO22, Henry Williams CO18, Max Sampson CO19, Troy Sixton CO19, Alfie Burns CO19, Joe Turnbull CO09, Sam Willsher CO03 and Andrew Barnett CO01.

With the prestige of lifting the newly appointed Truro School Golf Society Trophy, teams were expertly arranged by Glynn Hooper, ensuring a great blend of talent and keenness.

New connections were made, old friendships rekindled, and the fairways echoed with stories, laughter, and the occasional cheer (or groan) as each team teed off.

As the final putts dropped at the 18th hole, the scores were tallied before the top three teams were announced:

1st Place (Score: 49) – Charlie Bladon CO22, Piran Hawken CO22, Harry Phillips CO22

2nd Place (Score: 54) – Max Sampson CO19, Kobe Kellet CO23, Sam (current pupil)

3rd Place (Score: 55) – Alfie Burns CO19, Troy Sixton CO19, Henry Williams CO18

Thank you to Glynn Hooper for hosting and his behind the scenes work to ensure the event was a great success.  The day was more than just a game of golf; it was a reminder of shared connections and the strength of friendships within the Truro School community.
