Children currently in Year 6 were invited to Truro School for a morning of fun activities as they think ahead to joining the Senior School next year.
Over 100 children from across the county joined us for a morning packed with fun and engaging activities. From building rockets in physics, baking Cornish Fairings at Truro School Cookery, geli plate rolling seaweed designs to decorate poems in art, various sporting activities in the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre, map reading and finding clues in RE, a treasure hunt in the library, to a game of Traitors with our drama department, there was plenty to inspire our newest recruits.
The theme of the day was ‘Your Future Self’ and children were invited to dress as their future selves and work in groups of athletes, pilots, medics, astronauts, detectives and musicians. They were all treated to a special lunch based on the theme, with ‘make me a millionaire’ shortbread and other ‘future self’ inspired delights on the menu.
Parents were also given the chance to chat over a coffee before heading to the chapel to learn more about the transition process from Andy Johnson, Head of Truro School and Head of Lower School, Felicity Thurlow.
The morning was an opportunity to make new connections and familiarise pupils with the school site before they start Year 7 in September 2026. It forms a part of our carefully curated programme of transition events to support pupils and parents joining our community. Thank you to all of our amazing staff, Sixth Form helpers, pupils and their families for making the morning so enjoyable.
