Festive Fun for a Fantastic Cause!
Earlier this term, Year 8 pupils stepped up to The Burrell Theatre, ready to present their chosen causes to their peers and the Community Action Team. One by one, each group delivered impressive, thoughtful, and passionate presentations, showcasing the research, dedication, and heart that had gone into their projects. Miss Danielle Overend, Head of Year, was genuinely overwhelmed by the care and creativity shown by the budding philanthropists.
After careful deliberation, the Year 8s chose to support The Children’s Sailing Trust, a charity that opens the joy of the water to children who might otherwise miss out. Many pupils at Truro School have already experienced the Trust’s amazing sailing programmes as part of the WAA offering, gaining confidence, competence, and resilience on the water.
To kick off their fundraising, the Year 8s held their festive Mince Pie Mile on the last day of term. Pupils donned their most colourful festive attire and ran a mile around the school grounds, spreading cheer while supporting an incredible cause.
After an energising warm-up session in the SBA, participants ran, jogged and walked the mile-long course. The event proved to be a tremendous success, with everyone showing great enthusiasm and determination. Well done to everyone for a fantastic effort in raising money for this worthy cause.
