Year 3 pupils at Truro School enjoyed a fantastic morning of maths, putting their knowledge of fractions into practice through a creative and delicious Pizza Project.
Building on their recent learning, the children were challenged to design and make their own pizzas at home. As in previous years, creativity was key, with pupils carefully planning how to divide their pizzas into equal parts and represent different fractions with toppings.
Pupils also wrote their own fraction-based questions linked to their pizzas that were shared with classmates, who worked together to solve the problems, discuss their reasoning, and explore which questions were more challenging and why.
The project proved to be a huge success, combining hands-on learning with creativity. The classroom was filled with excitement as pupils proudly presented their work and engaged in thoughtful mathematical discussions.
To celebrate their hard work, each child was awarded a certificate and enjoyed a well-earned slice of freshly cooked pizza prepared by the school kitchen; the perfect end to a rewarding and enjoyable morning of maths.
