Welcoming our Grandparents to Prep

Prep opened its doors to a much-loved and very special group of guests, our pupils’ grandparents, for a delightful Grandparents Cream Tea Afternoon. The event was a joyful celebration of family, connection, and the memories that span generations.

The afternoon began with a warm welcome as grandparents were greeted with musical entertainment performed by some of our talented pupils, followed by a heartfelt speech from Rob Morse, Head of Truro School Prep. Mr. Morse spoke of the invaluable role grandparents play in the lives of our pupils, highlighting the joy and strength found in these cross-generational relationships. His words resonated with everyone present, setting the tone for the special moments to come.

One of the most touching parts of the afternoon came as pupils arrived, filled with excitement and pride, to greet their grandparents. Hand in hand, they set off to explore the school grounds together. Guided by the children, grandparents enjoyed a tour that included our outdoor classrooms, vibrant play areas, and specialist facilities, including the swimming pool, DT room, sports hall, music room, and computer suite. Each stop along the way offered grandparents a glimpse into the daily life and experiences of their grandchildren and a chance to step into their world and share in their learning journey.

The day concluded in the most delightful way possible: a traditional Cornish cream tea in the dining room, complete with freshly baked scones, clotted cream, and jam, enjoyed over cups of tea and wonderful conversation. The dining room was filled with laughter and excited chatter from everyone present.

For those whose grandparents were unable to attend, the afternoon was a fun-filled one packed with games and lollies on the school field.

Events like this are a testament to the values at the heart of Truro School Prep, and it was both a privilege and a pleasure to provide an opportunity for families to connect and celebrate in such a meaningful way.

We are incredibly grateful to all the grandparents who joined us for this memorable afternoon, and to our pupils for sharing their school with such pride and enthusiasm. We look forward to welcoming you all back again soon.
