As the first half of the term draws to a close, our pupils are busy with learning and friendships in the Pre-Prep.
In Nursery this half term, we have been focusing on getting to know each other. One way in which we have done this is by using our ‘Chatter Bags.’ We have been taking it in turns to fill the chatter bag with items that are special to us and that we would like to discuss with our friends. It encourages discussion and gives everyone a chance to be listened to. Alongside a Forest School session in our beautiful autumnal grounds, we have gone on a number hunt and have found the number 1! We have been doing lots of activities around this number to help us recognise it and be able to write it ourselves.
This week in Forest School, our Reception pupils visited our Enchanted Garden and cooked apples on the fire, and had a great time creating all sorts of delicacies in our mud kitchen. In Drawing Club, we have been bringing our ideas to life by using our phonics as the magic codes. We have been continuing our phonics work, with some of us being introduced to the ‘f’ sound. We have worked hard to differentiate between ‘f’ for flower and ‘t’ for tower.
In science, Year 1 pupils have been learning about the characteristics and adaptations of different animals and sorting them into their animal categories. This week in maths, we have been using number lines to explore addition and subtraction. In our swimming lessons, we have been working on our front crawl and showing great courage and confidence in the water.
In PE this week, Year 2 has been refining our ball skills and learning how to intercept opponents. We have also enjoyed creating art pieces inspired by the Surfers Against Sewage assembly we participated in last week.
During the morning, you will have the opportunity to discover why our Nursery and Reception settings will provide the perfect first step for your little one. You will also be able to explore the rest of the Prep School and take part in a number of activities throughout the morning.
