With Remembrance Day and the start of Christmas planning, it has been a busy and productive week in Pre-Prep.
In Nursery this week, we are exploring number 3! We looked at all the different ways we could make number 3 and had a go at writing it. In Drawing Club, we are looking at ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We have explored some new vocabulary, including brave and growling.
In Reception in our maths classes this week, we have been exploring the early concepts of division by sharing objects into groups. In Drawing Club this week, we have been reading the Magic Porridge Pot. Preparations for the school Christmas play are now well underway, and we have started to learn all the new songs for our play and think about the key characters in the Nativity.
In Year 1 literacy, we have been learning how to write a poem about a jungle habitat. We have been using our five senses to help us describe the environment, and we have been making our own mangrove trees. In maths this week, we are exploring early addition by learning our number bonds to 10. We have been practising our counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s and using them to help us count objects more quickly.
In Forest School this week, Year 2 has been building hedgehog houses and a bat box from recycled materials. We are also investigating our ‘bug bunkers’ with Sussex University’s Bug Club. As a part of our topic on Rome, we have learned all about Hadrian’s Wall, an ancient Roman fortification. We explored why the wall was constructed and studied how it stretched across northern England from coast to coast.
