Weekly News from Pre-Prep 12.09.25

Our youngest pupils have been showing us all the very essence of our school value for the year, confidence, as they started or returned to school for their first full week.

Nursery has been spending lots of time getting to know each other and understanding new routines. We have enjoyed a walk in the woods, our first swimming lesson and our first Spanish lesson where we practised greeting each other in Spanish. We have also been making and decorating bees to go on our new ‘busy bees’ display, where we will showcase what we have been up to.

In Reception, we have been busy exploring our new classroom and have loved catching up with old friends and welcoming new ones. We have enjoyed starting our new topic on dogs and loved hearing Mrs Williams tell us lots of fascinating stories about her cheeky dog, Clemmie. We have also shared many of our own stories about our pet dogs.

This week in Year 1, we have been having lots of fun making bracelets with alphabet beads, practising our handwriting and celebrating all the wonderful things we did in the summer holidays. In science, we have learned all about different animal groups and what features these groups of animals have in common.

This week in Year 2, we have started our new topic on the Romans, learning all about the Roman Empire. In maths, we are exploring numbers using part-whole models, while in science, we learned about animals and their babies.

What a fantastic start to the new term! We look forward to sharing more updates with you each week.
