This week in Truro School Pre-Prep, pupils across Nursery to Year 2 have enjoyed a wide range of creative, collaborative and active learning experiences.
In Nursery, the children made the most of our beautiful outdoor areas with sensory play, pouring, filling and mixing pink water, bubbles and rose petals, with fresh mint adding a beautiful scent to their creations. They also worked together to create invitations for their upcoming Forest School Festival Day, sounding out words as a group, with some children independently attempting their own writing before decorating the finished invitations to share with their families.
Reception pupils have been inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar in Drawing Club, using the story to develop their writing skills. They have been practising spelling the days of the week and learning the importance of using capital letters. In maths, the focus has been on understanding time, particularly how many hours make up a day.
In Year 1, pupils explored the work of Cornish artist Alfred Wallis, creating their own artwork inspired by his distinctive style. In literacy, they completed their own Cornish myths, developing imaginative characters, settings and endings designed to engage their audience.
Alongside their graduation assembly, Year 2 pupils joined schools from across the country for an online assembly focused on ocean conservation, learning about the importance of protecting seas and marine life. In PE, they have been actively preparing for Sports Day, practising key skills and building excitement for the upcoming event.
