We Will Remember Them; Remembrance Day 2025

Across the school, pupils gathered to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. At the Senior School, the Remembrance Service was opened by Mr Johnson, setting a tone of reflection. Rev Helen, Dr Pope, and Mrs Jobling then read the names of the fallen Old Truronians who gave their lives in both World Wars and in Afghanistan. As each name was read, a Sixth Form student stood holding a cross adorned with a poppy.

At 11.00am, Tristan V played ‘The Last Post’, followed by a minute’s silence observed across the school. The service continued with a poignant performance of We Will Remember Them by the Senior Choristers, accompanied by Truro Cathedral’s Director of Music, James Anderson-Besant. We also enjoyed an organ recording by Katie R. The service concluded with Sixth Form students placing their crosses onto display boards, creating a powerful tribute to the fallen.

At the Prep School, pupils took part in a similarly reflective service. They considered the importance of remembering those who served before placing a poppy into a central pot, a simple but heartfelt act of unity and respect.

Across the county, pupils also participated in Remembrance Day parades on Sunday, many proudly representing their Cadet units. In Truro, Felicity and Isaac joined Mr Johnson for the city’s Remembrance Sunday Parade, laying wreaths at the War Memorial to honour the fallen and remember those from the Truro School community who have served our country.

We extend our sincere thanks to all pupils who took part in parades and services, and to everyone who wore their poppies with pride and respect. A special thank you also goes to our gardening team, whose thoughtful work created a beautiful tribute on our school lawns.
