Ten Tors Trundle

Well done to our Ten Tors teams on their first camp of the year this weekend. The teams experienced a range of weather conditions, making it a great opportunity for everyone to test their kit ahead of their Dartmoor expedition at the end of next month.

The group headed out for the whole weekend in preparation for the Ten Tors Challenge later in the year. Walking either 35 or 45 miles, the teams started at St Agnes or Portreath, camping overnight where they prepared their own campfire meals, before continuing to Truro to finish the walk on Sunday.

At Truro School, outdoor education is an integral part of school life, with opportunities for students from Year 7 through to the Sixth Form to take part in expeditions and other outdoor challenges. This annual challenge, run by the Army and held on Dartmoor, is a significant undertaking for those involved and one that stays with participants for the rest of their lives. The school has an enviable reputation within the Ten Tors event. Students spend months training with the outdoor pursuits team as they prepare for the 35, 45 or 55 mile routes.

Well done to all involved on a successful first camp, and we wish the teams every success as they continue their preparations for the Ten Tors Challenge later this year.
