It’s been an action-packed few weeks for Truro School’s athletes, with outstanding performances across athletics, tennis, fencing, rounders, cricket, and triathlon. From personal bests on the track to national selections and regional victories, our pupils have shown incredible dedication, talent, and team spirit. Here are just some of the brilliant recent achievements from our pupils.
Billy E in the 3rd Year competed at the South West Athletics Schools Championships, held at Exeter Arena over the weekend. Representing Cornwall, Billy ran a personal best of 11.79 seconds in the 100m heats, placing 4th, and followed it up with another PB of 23.92 seconds in the 200m, securing a fantastic 3rd place. He will now go on to compete in the English Schools selection event in July, a brilliant achievement!
Aria G has been selected as one of just four girls to represent the TS3 South West regional triathlon team. She will train over the summer and compete at Nationals in September. We wish you the best of luck!
Congratulations to our U13 and U15 Netball teams who recently took part in the World School Games in Loughborough. Thank you to World School Games, it was a wonderful experience for our teams to take part in this prestigious event, and thanks also to Winnie and teammates for some enthusiastic court-side reporting.
Our 1st to 4th Year rounders teams enjoyed a friendly fixture against Penair School, with lots of rounders scored and some great wins for Truro. Well done to everyone who took part.
The girls’ cricket season has come to an end with the U13s playing a competitive match, bowing out in the semi-final. The U15 girls had a lovely cricket festival at Mount Kelly playing four matches in the sunshine. Well done to all the girls!
A huge well done to the 1st and 2nd Year pupils who competed in the Cornwall School Tennis League at Penair School. The group created a fantastic atmosphere, made great progress, and demonstrated excellent scoring knowledge and gameplay.
Truro School athletes also performed brilliantly at the Cornwall Schools Athletics Championships in Par. Isobel T came 4th in the 100m and 3rd in the 300m. Arun V ran 12.3 seconds to achieve joint 2nd in the 100m. Billy E continued his strong form, finishing joint 1st in the 100m with a time of 11.8 seconds and winning his age group 200m. Dan G placed 2nd in the 1500m, and Kai R came 2nd in the high jump. Jack BH and Kai both qualified for the inter boys 100m and 200m finals, with Jack finishing 4th and Kai 5th. Naomi H and Jess B both achieved 2nd place in the 1500m, and Daisy H came 2nd in the 100m hurdles. A huge congratulations to all who represented the school.
In fencing, Clara had a fantastic experience competing in five events across Spain. She finished 13th in the individual Spanish Cadet National competition and 3rd in the team event. The following week, she placed 2nd in the Madrid U17 Regional individual event and helped her team become Madrid Regional Champions. Most impressively, Clara qualified for the Spanish Absolute Championship on May 31st, becoming the youngest competitor in the entire competition.
Finally, congratulations to 3rd Year pupils Sam C, Theo M, and Jack R, who were selected to play for the Cornwall U14 Cricket Squad. After a winter of hard work, they are now competing in the ECB League against teams from across the UK with great success. A fantastic achievement and a testament to their dedication.
