Prep Sports Round Up 03.07.26

It has been a busy and exciting time for Truro School Prep pupils, who have been proudly representing the school at events across the country, demonstrating determination, teamwork, and resilience in a variety of disciplines.

A group of pupils travelled to the iconic Alexander Stadium in Birmingham for the National Prep Schools’ Athletics Championships, representing both Truro School Prep and Team Drake. With a prestigious history that includes hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games and annual British Athletics Championships, the venue provided an inspiring backdrop for the competition.

Competing against approximately 500–600 athletes from across the country, our pupils rose to the occasion. Rafe and Sienna were first on the track in the 1200m, both running close to their personal bests in a highly competitive field. Jack followed with a strong performance in the 600m, also achieving a time close to his personal best. Evie rounded off the events for Truro School Prep in the 150m, delivering an impressive run in a particularly fast race.

While there was some initial disappointment, this quickly turned to pride as the pupils recognised their outstanding achievement in finishing among the top competitors in the country. Their performances reflected not only their talent but also their courage and commitment in such a challenging environment.

For Evie and Sienna, this marks the culmination of their Prep School athletics journey, and we hope this experience will inspire them as they continue their sporting pursuits at Senior School. Jack and Rafe, meanwhile, will look ahead to next year with the opportunity to return and build on this year’s success.

Pupils from Years 3 to 6 also travelled to King’s College, Taunton, to take part in the Knight Frank Junior Triathlon in support of the charity Restless Development. Thanks to Mabel for her fantastic write-up below:

On Sunday, 18th June, teams of pupils from years 3-6 travelled up to King’s College in Taunton to take part in the Knight Frank Junior Triathlon to raise money for the charity Restless Development. Teams came up with a creative name and then started fundraising with their teammates in the spring term. On the day, each child participated in a 50-metre swim, a 1000-metre cycle, and a 750-metre run.

Over the course of the event, teams worked together to find the most efficient way of passing on the timing chip to the next teammate. At the end, teams crossed the finish line together and were interviewed with a microphone before being handed their medals and making their way to the podium for a photograph.

With pupils embracing opportunities both locally and nationally, it has been a wonderful showcase of the spirit, enthusiasm, and all-round excellence that define Truro School Prep.
