Narrow Defeat for U15s Netball Team

The U15s played their first cup game of the season, away at Wellington School. 11 girls travelled, and all played their part in a great game. The first quarter was very close, beginning goal for goal, but Wellington took advantage of some turnovers to end the quarter 12-8.

The team turned over the ball several times in the second quarter but struggled to sequence enough passes to get the ball safely into the shooting circle. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 12-20 to Wellington.

Those on the bench in the third quarter commented on the team’s excellent approach; however, again, mistakes were made, and we didn’t score as often as we would have liked.

Determined to win a quarter of the game, the team rallied for the last 15 minutes. Tight defence led to several balls being turned over, and the team were able to find Evie H in the shooting circle with ease. Sophie M played in 3 different positions in the match and put real pressure on the opposition shooters’ defending circle. Truro fought hard to win the last quarter 12-4.

In another 5 more minutes, we may have won the match! Final score 35-31 to Wellington.

Overall some brilliant netball was on display, with plenty to work on as the season progresses.

Well done to Elowyn, our captain who was nominated by Wellington as Player of the Match.
