Year 9 drama pupils have taken part in a unique and engaging experience, witnessing live character interviews and even participating in them alongside Mrs Sanderson. The role-play sessions were delivered in collaboration with local police officers, giving pupils an eye-opening insight into what it might be like to be interviewed under caution, all while performing in front of an audience of their peers.
The officers conducted highly realistic interviews with some of our incredibly talented Year 9 actors, exploring their characters’ backstories and recreating authentic police custody scenarios. It was impressive to see how well the pupils understood the play and how confidently they immersed themselves in their roles.
During the session, the officers also explained what typically happens during a police interview, the possible outcomes for individuals who commit offences, and where pupils can find further information about the youth justice system.
This immersive experience was a powerful way to combine drama with real-world learning, helping to develop both performance skills and a greater understanding of social responsibility.
