Green Team and Eco Club Sow Seeds for a Greener Future

Truro School Prep is celebrating another exciting step forward in its sustainability journey, thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of our newly appointed Green Team members and our Eco Club’s initiatives.

This week, new Green Team members were proudly selected, marking the start of an important role within the school community. At the same time, the Eco Club has been busy planting more than 150 sunflower seeds, all harvested from last year’s thriving sunflowers. These seeds were carefully collected, dried and prepared by the Eco Club over the winter months.

The new Green Team members have begun sorting the sunflower seeds into envelopes ready for sale. Over the coming weeks, pupils will be running stalls in the playground at pick-up time, with all funds raised going towards buying more seeds for this year’s school garden.

The Green Team will also be taking on another important responsibility this term as they award Eco Merits to pupils who are looking after their pencil cases and equipment particularly well. These Eco Merits, recognised with bug stickers, celebrate small but meaningful actions that help reduce waste and encourage responsibility. Certificates will be awarded in assembly as pupils reach key milestones, with progress tracked in planners throughout the year.

Together, these small steps are helping Truro School Prep make a big difference. We are incredibly proud of the commitment, teamwork and care shown by our pupils as they work to create a more sustainable future for our school community.
