Girls in Maths Competitions

We were delighted that 13 girls from Year 10 to Year 13 represented Truro School in the recent UKMT Maths Competition for Girls and the Maths Olympiad for Girls. These national competitions provide a fantastic opportunity for pupils and students to stretch their problem-solving skills and apply their mathematical thinking in challenging and creative ways.

Some of our recent UKMT Team Challenge participants also took part, showing real commitment to extending their enjoyment of maths beyond the classroom. One of our competitors reflected: “It was a brilliant experience to test ourselves against some really tough questions. We enjoyed the challenge, and it felt great to take part in something that connects students with a love of maths across the country.”

We would like to thank the teachers who supported the girls in preparing for and entering these competitions. We look forward to sharing with you how they got on and celebrating their successes in the weeks ahead.

This follows on from our inspiring Girls in Maths event last year, which showcased women working in industry who had studied Core Maths, A Level Maths, or A-Level Further Maths, and highlighted how these pathways supported their careers.

We also have an exciting calendar of UKMT events and Maths House Competitions lined up for the year ahead, giving even more opportunities for our students to develop their problem-solving skills and teamwork.
