From Plastic to Fantastic

Our Year 5 pupils turned into eco warriors in their DT lessons with a visit from Matt Nott from One Blue Eye. Based in Helston, One Blue Eye transforms 100% recycled plastic waste into innovative, usable products and champions sustainability and keeping our oceans clean.

Today, Matt was showing pupils how to transform shredded plastic waste from sweet tubs into something new by melting it down and pouring it into hexagonal moulds. The newly formed hexagons will be attached to this year’s Green Goblin race car using wire from broken computers.

Once these hexagons have been made, all of the glue sticks collected by Eco Club members throughout the term will also be shredded, melted down and given a new life.

With more exciting projects in the pipeline, including making a ruler for life for every pupil, we look forward to sharing more from Matt and One Blue Eye soon.
