Cycle, Climb and Sketch for Prostate Cancer Awareness.

Head of Art, Mr Meads, will this summer be embarking on the tremendous challenge of cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End via the West Coast, where he will also scale the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Having already cycled end to end twice before, he’s no stranger to this iconic cycle challenge but this time, it’s for personal reasons, and he will be accompanied by five other friends.

One of Mr Mead’s best friends was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, and whilst having treatment, he encouraged him to also have a PSA test just for peace of mind. This set him on a course towards a cancer diagnosis that was luckily caught early, and thanks to the first-class care given to him by Royal Cornwall Hospital and Derriford Hospital, he has since been given the all-clear.

Their epic challenge will cover 1,300 miles and climb around 73,000 feet by bike; more than twice the height of Everest and his mountain challenge will add a further 12,000 feet of ascent. He is undertaking this impressive feat to raise funds for the charity Prostate Cancer UK, whilst hoping to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer. He’s also planning to fit in some wild swimming and plenty of sketching on his route too.

If you would like to support Dave’s journey, he has set up a Just Giving Page.
