Rev Helen led two joyful and meaningful Christingle services for the children at Prep and Pre-Prep, creating a memorable morning of Christmas magic.
In the Lovett Hall during the morning, Rev Helen guided the Prep children through the significance of the Christingle tradition, which has long helped children around the world to understand the message of Christmas.
Our Pre-Prep pupils travelled to the Senior School, where, welcomed by members of the Sixth Form and Year 11, they had their special Christingle in the Chapel.
During each assembly, through a blend of songs, storytelling and reflection, pupils explored the symbolism found in each part of the Christingle. The orange, representing the world, is first wrapped in a red ribbon to symbolise Jesus’ humanity, divinity, love and guidance. The four cocktail sticks represent the four seasons and the corners of the Earth, while the fruits and raisins decorating the orange symbolise the sweetness of Christ and serve as a reminder of his presence in the communion bread and wine.
Each child received an orange and carefully created their own Christingle, completing it with a candle to represent the light of Jesus shining in the world. The services were filled with joy, wonder and a sense of togetherness, offering the children a special and memorable way to connect with the Christmas story.
A huge thank you to Rev Helen, our staff and our Sixth Formers, whose support and enthusiasm helped make these Christingle services such a meaningful experience for everyone involved.
