Choir practice was more vibrant than ever as we welcomed 16 potential choristers to our “Be A Girl Chorister for a Day” event. The aspiring choristers had the opportunity to rehearse alongside our current choristers and Truro Cathedral’s Director of Music, James Anderson-Besant. It was a joy to see younger singers from across the Senior School, as well as visiting girls from other schools, come together to experience life as a chorister at Truro School.
The morning began with the customary choir practice at 8am, followed by their regular lessons. The girls then enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Truro School Dining Hall. After afternoon classes, they made the brief journey down the hill to Truro Cathedral, where Mr. Anderson-Besant introduced them to some of the Cathedral team and took them on an exciting ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Cathedral, taking in the crypt, St Mary’s Aisle, the Song School as well as an organ demonstration by the Cathedral’s Assistant Director of Music, Mr Wyatt. They then took part in further rehearsals in preparation for their beautiful public evensong performance at 5.30pm.
A heartfelt thank you to all the girls who attended; we hope you enjoyed this unique experience.
