Truro School Prep pupils have been celebrating two much-loved patron saints by cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
To mark St David’s Day, Year 3 pupils baked traditional rock cakes as they learned about Saint David and his importance to Wales.
With St Piran’s Day following quickly on, Year 6 pupils also baked two Cornish classics: traditional saffron buns and Cornish fairings. The children learned about the history of saffron in Cornwall and why these buns are such a special part of our local heritage.
The week was a wonderful opportunity to explore Welsh and Cornish traditions, while building confidence and skills in the kitchen.
