A Taster of Year 7

We were delighted to welcome our new cohort of Year 7s and their families to taster days ahead of them starting at Truro School this September.

Groups of excited pupils gathered in the Burrell Theatre, while their parents met for tea and coffee. Throughout the morning, parents were able to chat and share details, talk to current parents and hear from Head of Truro School, Andy Johnson, Head of Lower School, Mrs Thurlow and from two of our incredible Senior School Pupils, Jenny and Teddy, about life in Year 7.

Meanwhile, our newest pupils had a busy morning in their new form groups, with an array of lessons and activities that spanned maths, art, drama, and even creating a ‘bomb’ in chemistry. Of course, the highlight across both days was our famous Truro School lunches in the Dining Room, which were a hit with everyone.

Along with catching up with old friends and making lots of new ones, these days are an important part of the transition process that makes moving from a primary setting to the Senior School as easy and seamless as possible. Pupils gradually get to know each other and gain familiarity with the school, staff and routines so they can hit the ground running in September.

The next event on the transition calendar is an Introduction to Sports event later this month.

A huge well done to all of our new pupils, who showed great confidence, courage and compassion for each other as they begin their journey into the Truro School family.
