A Festive Showcase of Talent

This year’s Senior Christmas Concert was a delightful celebration of creativity and talent, shining a spotlight on the remarkable skills of Truro School’s young musicians.

The evening offered a delightful blend of musical flavours and genres, ranging from Symphony’s enchanting Sound of Music medley and Pitchfork’s heartfelt rendition of Can’t Help Falling in Love, to the Year 11 Rock Band’s energetic Counting Down the Days and Wind Band’s festive Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer. A huge well done also goes to our younger pupils, including the Year 8 rock band’s tight rendition of Slade’s Merry Christmas Everybody, the hauntingly beautiful Year 9 Christmas compositions, Junior Choir’s touching performance of Fields of Gold, and Project 1’s lively Let it Snow.

Other superb performances included the Vocal Ensemble’s captivating rendition of Mary’s Boy Child, both Junior Strings and the Saxophone Ensemble presenting Christmas classics, and Aiden (our senior house music competition winner) delivering a sensitive performance of Il Polo Rosso by Hisaichi on the new TMC piano. The concert culminated in a stirring performance by the budding Philharmonia with Yesterday, after which members of Symphony and Junior Strings joined them on stage as the audience stood to sing popular Christmas Carols.

It was a truly enchanting evening that showcased the immense talent within the school, particularly the enthusiasm displayed by our younger students, which bodes exceptionally well for the future of our expanding music program, just two terms away.

At the concert’s conclusion, the Head expressed his heartfelt gratitude and introduced the Music Appeal to support the exciting developments within Truro School’s music department, promising to enhance and solidify the school’s musical offerings for generations to come.

A huge congratulations to all the performers at this year’s Christmas Concert, and a sincere thank you to the music department for their unwavering support and inspiration.
