A Fantastic Prep Sports Day 2026

On Friday 12th June, the Prep community gathered at the Senior School for a fantastic Sports Day filled with energy, excitement and memorable performances.

Blessed with favourable conditions and supported by a wonderful crowd of family and friends, the event showcased everything that is special about sport at Truro School Prep.

From the first race to the final relay, the children competed with enthusiasm, determination and tremendous spirit. Whether sprinting down the track, launching themselves into the long jump pit or cheering on their House from the sidelines, every pupil played their part in making the day such a success.

There were some outstanding individual performances throughout the afternoon, including school record-breaking achievements from Jack L, Mabel L, Hattie J and Freddie Mc. To set a school record is a remarkable accomplishment, and each pupil should be immensely proud of their achievement.

Whilst records and results are always exciting, what stood out most was the character displayed by the children. There were countless examples of resilience when events did not go to plan, determination when races became challenging and courage when pupils pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones.

Just as impressive was the graciousness shown by competitors in both victory and defeat. Pupils celebrated success with humility and accepted disappointment with maturity, demonstrating the values that sit at the heart of sport.

The atmosphere throughout the day was exceptional. The camaraderie within each House was evident from start to finish, with pupils enthusiastically supporting one another regardless of year group. The constant encouragement and collective cheering created a wonderful sense of community and belonging.

Congratulations must go to all four Houses for their efforts throughout the day. After a closely contested competition, the final standings were:

1st Place – Vinter: 661 points

2nd Place – School: 527 points

3rd Place – Wickett: 470 points

4th Place – Smith: 459 points

A huge congratulations to Vinter House on a well-deserved victory.

Events of this scale are only possible thanks to the efforts of many people behind the scenes. Our sincere thanks go to Tom and the Grounds Team for preparing the facilities so beautifully. We are also extremely grateful to Marie Bluck, Sarah Hollingworth, Joanna Wood and their teams for providing refreshments, catering and logistical support throughout the day. The marketing team captured memories on film that will tell a special story for a long time to come.

Special thanks must also go to Dan Sanderson and the Senior School PE team for giving up their time to assist with the running of events. Their expertise and enthusiasm helped ensure that the day ran smoothly.

Thank you also to the Prep School staff, whose efficiency, organisation and commitment enabled every event to take place seamlessly. Special thanks must go to Andy Ward and Lucie Egford for pulling together the events, timetables, and logistics that made the two Truro School Prep and Pre-Prep Sports Days possible.

To our parents and families, thank you for your fantastic support. The encouragement from the sidelines added enormously to the atmosphere and helped create a memorable occasion for all involved.

Most importantly, thank you to the children. Your enthusiasm, determination, skill and ability were evident throughout the day. You represented your Houses with pride, supported one another wholeheartedly and demonstrated the very best qualities of sport.

Sports Day 2026 will be remembered not only for the impressive performances and record-breaking achievements but also for the spirit, teamwork, and community on display throughout a truly wonderful day.

A huge thanks to Mr Ward for the lovely write-up from the day.
