Year 3 have been working extremely hard in their English lessons as they study Roald Dahl’s highly amusing novel, ‘The Twits’, which tells the tale of the vile Mr and Mrs Twit and their horrible undoing. As a fantastic finish to the topic and an opportunity to celebrate our pupils’ achievements, a very special ‘Roald Dahl Day’ took place at Truro School Prep.
At a beautifully decorated Prep, excited pupils arrived dressed in a fantastic array of ‘dahlicious’ costumes. It was wonderful to see characters ranging from the BFG, James (and his Giant Peach), and Matilda gracing the school playground.
With swashboggling activities including making Mr Twit’s beard in art and completing a personalised booklet in English, there were plenty of surprises throughout the day. A visit and story from a very grumpy Mrs Twit, frobscottle tasting sessions and every pupil was also gifted with a limited edition Prep Wonka Bar. The children were delighted to see who had a coveted Golden Ticket tucked inside, granting them book vouchers to spend on more fantastic books.
The day was full of awe and wonder, perfectly summed up by Mr Dahl himself:
‘And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.’ – Billy and The Minpins
A huge thank you to all our pupils who engaged so beautifully in the day and to our incredible Year 3 team, Mrs Twit, the FTS volunteers and all of the staff who made the day so biffsquiggly for all our Prep human beans.
