Year 2 Pupils Lend a Helping Hand for the Environment

Year 2 children at Truro School Pre-Prep put their Forest School learning into action this week by participating in a litter pick around the school site. The activity forms part of the school’s ongoing commitment to achieving and maintaining Plastic Free Schools status, which helps pupils understand the importance of caring for their environment from an early age.

The children collected litter and then carefully sorted it into three categories: reuse, recycle, and waste. It was fascinating to hear pupils suggest creative ideas for items that might otherwise have been thrown away, as well as to see their growing confidence in identifying what could be recycled.

The session, led by Forest School lead Mrs Stableforth, perfectly showcased the children’s genuine commitment to protecting the environment. It was also a wonderful example of learning in action, inspired by curiosity, teamwork and care for the world around us.
